The financial crash of 2001 in Argentina resulted in a peso devaluation that sparked a significant foreign tourism boom. One long term result of this has been the opening of many high quality Spanish institutes that offer you the chance to study Spanish affordably. As well as cost though, there are further reasons for learning to speak Spanish there too.

Few Argentines speak English. In contrast to countries in the northern hemisphere which have more contact with native English speaking tourists, businesses, and pop culture, Argentina has had relatively little contact with English speakers. Until recently, the French language was considered by Argentines to be of a higher standing than English and the people with the resources to study another language usually learned French instead.

Although Argentines are fast changing their attitudelearning English is now a required element of public school education)~}, English is still seldom spoken fluently by Argentines. This serves as an ideal situation for students of Spanish as they will be forced to use the local language in order to get by.

It is easy to understand Argentines. Argentines do not speak overly fast, nor do they mumble, like Caribbean or Central American Spanish speakers. Many newcomers to Spanish have diffiuculty differentiating between words with spoken Spanish because they cannot hear when one word starts and the other stops. Studying Spanish whilst in Argentina reduces this problem.

Talking a lot is common in Argentina. Spanish students will have little trouble getting others to practice with because a talkative culture exists there. You can strike up a conversation with perfect strangers. Confident learners progress well in such an open environment.
