South America is the ultimate region in the world to go to if you want to learn Spanish as fast as possible in a foreign country. Go to South America for one month or two and you’ll certainly pick up a great deal of Spanish, go for three months or more and if you are speaking just Spanish you could definitely reach a decent level of fluency. If you can do it for three months or more there is no reason why you cannot become fluent in that time.

In addition, you will have such a terrific time in most places you go to stay in South America. And if you are happy and enjoying yourself you can learn much quicker.

Also, most people prefer the accents of Spanish in the South American countries to the Spanish accents in other countries around the world. A lot of people don’t like the Spanish accent from Spain for example, because they have a lisp on the ‘th’ that they don’t have in South America. Although in Argentina alone they also have a different lisp. Most people go to these five South American places to learn Spanish:

Argentina - apart from the lisp on the ‘ll’ (which they pronounce ’sh’) Argentia is a fantastic country to visit. It is a land of true culture: with some of the wolrd’s finest food, wine, dancing and conversation (people say). For a land of more incredible natural beauty and extremes, you might prefer Chile - Chile offers skiing, jungle trekking, surfing and just about every outdoor acivity possible.

Venezuela on the other hand offers a very attractive accent, that many say is the best in South America. Also a country with incredible natural beauty and sites to see. Colombia is for people who would like to tred the les-trodden route and find somewhere more undiscovered by the world. Colombia is much safer than it was just a few years ago, especially Bogota, and is a beautiful and exciting country to travel to.

And the most popular country to learn Spanish in South America is Ecuador, a place truly easy to visit, to travel around and to fall in love with.
