Learn Useful Spanish Phrases Easily
November 11th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedIs your Spanish learning program getting a little boring – Why not add a little fun into your quest for learning a new language? There are a number of methods to hone your Spanish speaking skills that involve everyday life and can be practiced as you make your way through the day. Learning to speak useful Spanish phrases proficiently does not always mean “cracking” the audio tapes and spending hours memorizing words and phrases.
So if you are ready, here are some fun and entertaining ways to help you absorb common Spanish phrases and words while providing a little entertainment along the way:
Watching American movies that include Spanish subtitles can prove to be very helpful. This is an effortless and inexpensive method of using multimedia avenues to learn a new language while being entertained at the same time.
TV novelas, or what Americans call soaps, are also an invaluable source of listening to the spoken Spanish language with great diction and clarity. If you have access to the Voice of America in Spanish, this is another valuable source of audio for learning Spanish.
Spanish language newspapers’ comic strips can be another useful source of Spanish words and terms. This can be an excellent method to learn the nuances of the Spanish language and provide a window into everyday terms and slang phrases.
Another simple way, yet involving a little more focus, is to carry 3-by-5 cards with you and jot down new words whenever you encounter them in your everyday life. As the day comes to its end, you can sit down and determine which phrases and words are the most useful to add to your permanent vocabulary. Then you can create flash cards using these terms and note the English translation on the flip side of the cards.
These easy ways to learn Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation can accelerate your learning experience and incorporate your efforts into your everyday lifestyle. However, the key to learning almost any topic or skill is to try to inject a little fun into the process. So why not start fine-tuning your language skills by learning useful Spanish phrases with a smile and a little chuckle?

The truth is that there is no one right answer when we speak of identifying the best method to learn Spanish. All of us are different and we tend to learn best through different methods and styles. If you can identify your learning style, then your ability to learn Spanish and speak common Spanish phrases will be greatly enhanced.
Styles of Learning
Essentially, there are three basic styles of learning that we all use. At times, we use varying combinations of these three, but there is generally one basic style that each of us favor. The learning styles are:
- Auditory
- Visual
- Kinesthetic
So, for your Spanish lessons, you will need to first determine your preferred style for learning. This will play a role in how you elect to structure your Spanish learning experience.
Auditory
The auditory type learners will benefit if they learn Spanish on cd rom or DVD, where they can listen to common Spanish phrases and vocabulary. A good at-home learning Spanish course with tapes, cd’s, or online audio works great for these people.
Visual
If you tend to learn best by the visual style, you are a visual learner. People in this category learn best when they can see what they’re trying to learn, and will prefer a workbook or textbook for their learning. Also, Spanish courses with a DVD or online video component will be preferred.
Kinesthetic
Now the kinesthetic learners are a little different, in that this type of learner learns best by doing or with a hands-on approach. Activity exercises or computer games will be most effective with these individuals. This type of learner tends to have the most difficult time learning because of limited access to hands-on learning tools.
The good news is that everybody will use all of these methods, depending on the learning situation. And remember, none of the styles listed above are inherently better than the other. Each style has its advantages and disadvantages, all depending on the learning format.
By adapting your learning format to your learning style, you will be able to learn Spanish and speak common Spanish phrases much easier and will find it a more rewarding experience. So, remember to take your specific learning style preference into account when choosing your desired Spanish course.
